AFP Las Vegas’ MISSION PITCH event is a platform for 10 nonprofit organizations to showcase their mission & impact in an effort to receive funding to support their programs and goals.

The goal of MISSION PITCH is to empower and support nonprofits in Southern Nevada that make a positive impact in the community they serve. By bringing together individuals, philanthropists and professionals in our community, the event will spark creativity and collaboration to turn vision into reality.

The full day ticket includes observing the competition with breakfast and entry to our lunch and learn, “Pitch Perfect” by Anne Krause, following the competition.

Can’t make the full day event? We also have the option to just attend the breakfast and competition from 9:00am to 11:30am OR just the lunch and learn, “Pitch Perfect” from 11:30pm to 1:00pm, lunch included.

Lunch and Learn – Pitch Perfect by Anne Krause

By the time you’re sitting in front of a donor to request a major gift, you have built a relationship and have been in conversation with them. You have paid attention to things they have said so that you have reason to believe the time is right, you are requesting the right amount for the right project, and you have the right person sitting beside you. All of this comes with meticulous preparation and planning so that you’re not relying on hope as a strategy. We’ll talk about the steps needed to ready you and your asking partner for the big moment. Your advance preparation will put you at ease, which will make your donor feel even more comfortable to have that wonderful conversation that should leave you both feeling joy.

Learning Outcomes

1. How to take a big project and boil it down into its component parts for an effective pitch.
2. How to prepare yourself and your asking partner for a face-to-face major gift request.

The lunch and learn has been approved for 1 CFRE credit.

About the Speaker

Anne Krause has lived in San Antonio for over 19 years and has served as President & Executive Director of the Hemisfair Conservancy since co-founding the organization in 2014. She received a Bachelor of Science degree from the United States Air Force Academy, a Master of Arts degree from the University of Texas at Austin, and completed a non-profit executive program at Harvard Business School.

Anne began her career as an Air Force officer. While serving her country, she had the privilege of flying jets, deploying to Cuba as the Officer in Charge of linguist operations, and serving as the Executive Officer for the USAF Thunderbirds demonstration team. After transitioning to the civilian world, Anne volunteered and held leadership positions in numerous non-profit organizations. Additionally, she consulted a Fortune 200 company and a private family foundation on strategic philanthropy.

Anne is passionate about art, education and community. Anne serves as President of SA100, on the boards of The Nonprofit Council and the Harvard Business School Club of San Antonio, and on the Southwest Research Institute’s Board of Advisory Trustees. She is an international public speaker, a member of Leadership Women Texas and the San Antonio Business Forum, and a Charity Ball Association sponsor. Together, she and her husband Paul have four adult children, and in 2018, they expanded their family by becoming foster parents.
